Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, invites audiences to a refined lunchtime recital at Our Lady of Victory Church on Tuesday 7 April 2026 at 12:30pm.
This concert will feature emerging soprano Anne Marie Gauci Agius, accompanied by the talented pianist Maria Elena Farrugia. Together, they present a charming and expressive programme that journeys through the elegance of Italian song, the colour of French mélodie, and the lyricism of English repertoire.
The recital opens with beloved Italian works by Francesco Paolo Tosti and Vincenzo Bellini, including Aprile, La Farfalletta, Vaga Luna, Malinconia, and Ideale, capturing the warmth and romantic spirit of the bel canto tradition.
Following a piano interlude, the programme turns to the evocative French repertoire of Ernest Chausson, Claude Debussy, and Georges Bizet with Le Colibri, Beau Soir, and Chanson d’Avril, offering delicate impressionistic colours and poetic nuance.
A second piano interlude leads into a selection of English songs by Roger Quilter and Ivor Novello, including Song of the Blackbird, Dream Valley, Primrose, and Waltz of My Heart, bringing the recital to a graceful and lyrical close.
Set within the intimate and historic surroundings of Our Lady of Victory Church, this concert promises a delightful midday escape filled with expressive artistry and musical elegance.
