Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, invites audiences to another engaging lunchtime concert at Our Lady of Victory Church on Tuesday 28 April 2026 at 12:30pm.
This recital features acclaimed baritone Ken Scicluna, accompanied by the versatile pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa, in a richly varied programme entitled Heroes and Villains – Characters from Broadway and the Silver Screen.
Spanning some of the most memorable moments in musical theatre and film, the programme weaves together a tapestry of iconic songs that bring to life characters both noble and flawed. Audiences will be transported through the wit and poignancy of Stephen Sondheim’s Send in the Clowns, the romantic lyricism of Arthur Sullivan’s The Lost Chord, and the spirited charm of The Man of La Mancha by Mitch Leigh. The timeless partnership of Rodgers and Hammerstein is celebrated through beloved numbers such as Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Oh, what a Beautiful Mornin’, and the uplifting You’ll Never Walk Alone. The elegance of Cole Porter’s So in Love and the sweeping melodies of Frederick Loewe’s If Ever I Would Leave You and They Call the Wind Maria add further colour to the programme.
The evocative world of cinema is also represented, from the nostalgic beauty of Henry Mancini’s Slow Hot Wind and Vangelis’ Memories of Green to the dramatic intensity of Stars from Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Les Misérables. With additional highlights including If I Were a Rich Man by Jerry Bock and the rousing The Impossible Dream, this concert promises a compelling journey through some of the most enduring songs ever written for stage and screen.
Heroes and Villains – Characters from Broadway and the Silver Screen: will be held at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 28 April 2026 at 12:30pm.
