Echoes of Passion and Virtuosity

Echoes of Passion and Virtuosity

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, invites music lovers to another captivating lunchtime concert at Our Lady of Victory Church, Valletta, on Tuesday 21 April 2026 at 12:30pm.

This recital brings together the inspiring violinist Valhmor Montfort and the versatile pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa in a programme that promises both depth and brilliance.

At the heart of the programme lies Edward Elgar’s Violin Sonata in E minor, Op. 82, a deeply expressive work composed in the twilight of the composer’s life. Rich in emotion and lyrical intensity, the sonata reflects Elgar’s unmistakable voice—by turns nostalgic, passionate, and introspective.

In contrast, the recital also features Pablo de Sarasate’s “Malagueña”, a vibrant and technically dazzling piece infused with Spanish flair. Brimming with rhythmic vitality and virtuosic brilliance, it offers the performers an opportunity to showcase both precision and fiery character.

Set within the intimate and historic surroundings of Our Lady of Victory Church, this concert offers a perfect midday cultural escape—an encounter with music that stirs the soul and celebrates the artistry of two outstanding performers.
