LUNCHTIME CONCERTS AT THE ORATORY OF ST.FRANCIS VALLETTA

Evergreen Flute

The weekly lunchtime concerts at the Oratory of St. Francis in Republic Street,  Valletta will continue on Tuesday, 14th April 2015 at 12:30pm. The regular performances will be presenting varied performers and musicians, who from week to week, will be presenting sparkling and stimulating classical music.

The concert will feature Mro. Silvio Zammit (flute) and Ramona Zammit Formosa (piano). Mro. Silvio Zammit is a brilliant flautist with over 25 years of experience in flute performance and teaching.  Together with his piano accompanist, Ramona Zammit Formosa, he will be performing an excellent repertoire of flute music.

The eclectic programme of the lunchtime concert to be held at the Oratory of St. Francis Church in Republic Street, Valletta, will include the soothing and relaxing music of Handels Larghetto, Boccherinis Menuet, Mozarts :Sonata no. 5 in C, Beethovens Die Spielihr, a modern  effervescent composition by Scott Fujiko and a Maltese lively dance by Mro. Carmelo Pace Pace Leger.

The venue, the baroque Oratory,  was originally the friars refectory.  Over the years, it had been transformed into an oratory, hence it is beautifully adorned by magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and monks benches. The oratory is usually closed to the public and the lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to visit and enjoy the beautiful chapel.

The events are fund raising events for the Franciscan Church, which is undergoing extensive structural restoration. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts, costing 8 euro, can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details phone 7968 0952 or email: baroccomalta@gmail.
