The weekly lunchtime concerts at the Oratory of St. Francis in Republic Street,  Valletta will continue on Tuesday, 21st April 2015 at 12:30pm. The regular performances will be presenting varied performers and musicians, who from week to week, will be presenting vibrant and stimulating classical music.

This weeks lunchtime concert will be presenting a young emerging singer Bernard Busuttil who will be presenting a sparkling programme of timeless operatic arias. He will be singing a  well-known number of arias such as In cielo benedetto from I Lombardi by Giuseppe Verdi, Donna non vidi Mai from Manon Lescaut, E lucevan le stele from Tosca  and Non piangere Lifrom Turandot all by Giacomo  Puccini.

Bernard Busuttil started his music studies at the age of six studying pianoforte, theory of music and later pipe organ. He took up his vocal studies at the Johann Strauss School of Music under the guidance of soprano Miriam Cauchi. He has carried out masterclasses with Juliette Bisazza Zanni and Prof. Laura Sarti.

As a chorister, he sang in the Requiem masses of Verdi and Mozart, Mozarts Coronation Mass, Rossinis Stabat Mater, Beethovens Ninth Symphony and Missa Solemnis, Puccinis Messa di Gloria, Carl Orffs Carmina Burana, Karl Jenkins The Peacemakers (under the composers baton), and various oratorios and masses.

He has performed in the choir of various opera productions; Un Ballo in Maschera, Otello, Tosca, La Bohe, Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Macbeth, Turandot, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Norma, Nabucco, Il-Wegħda and Falstaff.

As a soloist he also appeared in Madama Butterfly (Principe Yamadori) and Otello (Roderigo) and Il Trovatore (Ruiz).

He gave recitals in Malta, Paris and Sicily and also sang in abridged versions of LElisir dAmore (Nemorino), La Bohe (Rodolfo) and La Principessa della Czarda (Edwin) accompanied by the pianoforte and was a soloist in concerts of sacred music, and the oratorio Juxta Crucem Lacrimosa by Prof. Dion Buhagiar.

In 2010 he sang in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestras Debutantes Concert (Una furtiva lagrima and Ah, la paterna mano) in the Malta Philharmonic Orchestras Christmas Concert.

Bernard also holds Bachelors degrees in Law, Economics and Public Policy and a Masters Degree in Public Policy.
