SACRED MUSIC BEYOND TIME

SACRED MUSIC BEYOND TIME

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, is proud to present a moving lunchtime recital titled “Sacred Music Beyond Time”, to be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, Valletta, on Tuesday, 4th November 2025 at 12:30pm.

This special concert will feature the soaring voice of talented soprano Maria Grazia Grech, accompanied by the distinguished Maestro Abraham D’Amato, performing on the church’s historic 18th-century pipe organ. Together, they will take the audience on a transcendent journey through sacred music spanning centuries and styles, set within the intimate and spiritually rich surroundings of one of Valletta’s most treasured churches.

The carefully curated programme opens with Dr. P. Nani’s serene Salve Regina, followed by excerpts from J.S. Bach’s monumental St. Matthew Passion, including the expressive aria Er hat... Aus Liebe. From the evocative collection Cantate Domino, the recital continues with Adorate et invocate, attributed to F. Alessandri, and the joyful Quia beneplacitum est Domino by J.J. Cassanéa de Mondonville.

An organ interlude by Maestro D’Amato will highlight the beauty of Bach’s instrumental writing, with Jesus bleibet meine Freude from Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147, and the vibrant Prelude in F major, BWV 556.

The vocal programme resumes with the meditative O Mysterium Ineffabile by J. Lallouette, and the poignant Cujus Animam Gementem from Stabat Mater by Maltese composer C. Pace. The recital concludes with the lyrical Ave Maria by E. Elgar and G. Abos’ devotional Tantum Ergo.
