Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, is pleased to present another captivating lunchtime concert at the historic Our Lady of Victory Church in Valletta. Taking place on Tuesday, 18th November at 12:30 pm, this concert will feature the celebrated soprano Dame Marita Bezzina, accompanied by the accomplished pianist Elaine Mercieca.
This thoughtfully curated selection of sacred and secular arias promises to enchant the audience with both classical elegance and emotional depth. The programme opens with two beloved arias from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro: “Voi che Sapete” and “Non so più cosa son”. The concert continues with Claude Debussy’s delicate Arabesque No. 1, a solo piano work that offers a moment of introspective beauty.
Sacred pieces such as Charles Gounod’s heartfelt O Divine Redeemer, Alessandro Stradella’s poignant Pietà Signore, and Stephen Adams’ stirring The Holy City bring a spiritual and meditative tone to the performance. Elaine Mercieca will also perform Yann Tiersen’s evocative Comptine d’une autre été and Yiruma’s contemporary classic River Flows in You, offering a modern contrast to the classical repertoire.
The concert will conclude with two powerful and beloved pieces: Malotte’s timeless The Prayer and the ethereal Ave Maria by Gomez, leaving the audience with a lasting impression of grace and serenity.
Voce dell’Anima e del Cuore – sacred and profane arias: will be held at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 14 November 2025 at 12:30pm.
