Loners and Gunmen – Characters from Broadway and the Silver Screen

Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, proudly presents a captivating lunchtime concert on Tuesday, 13th January 2026 at 12:30pm, set within the historic surroundings of the Church of Our Lady of Victory in Valletta. This much-anticipated event brings together two of Malta’s celebrated musicians: the charismatic baritone Ken Scicluna and the versatile pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa, for a musical journey that pays homage to some of the most unforgettable characters born of Broadway and the silver screen.

The programme explores timeless figures whose songs have embedded themselves deeply in the cultural imagination. Scicluna’s warm baritone, paired with Zammit Formosa’s expressive and sensitive accompaniment, promises an intimate and emotionally rich performance.

The concert features a beautifully curated selection of songs that span decades of film and musical theatre history. Audiences will be treated to Stephen Sondheim’s reflective masterpiece Send in the Clowns and Herman Hupfeld’s nostalgic As Time Goes By, followed by the spirited I Don Quixote from Mitch Leigh’s Man of La Mancha. The cinematic soundscape continues with Quincy Jones’ evocative On Days Like These, Henry Mancini’s beloved Moon River and the sultry Slow Hot Wind, as well as Nino Rota’s iconic Speak Softly, Love from The Godfather. The programme also embraces the rugged charm of Frederick Loewe’s Wandrin’ Star and the windswept They Call the Wind Maria, culminating in Ernest Gold’s stirring Exodus Theme and Jerry Bock’s exuberant If I Were a Rich Man.
