Savour the genius of Mozart with a side of midday delight!
Music lovers are warmly invited to a special lunchtime concert at Our Lady of Victory Church, the first church built in Valletta, on Tuesday 10th February at 12:30pm. Set within this historic and intimate setting, tenor Stanley Joe Portelli joins forces with Malta-based Polish pianist Julia Miller for an elegant midday musical recital. These popular weekly lunchtime concerts are organised by Barocco Foundation in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa.
The programme weaves together some of the most expressive gems of the vocal repertoire, celebrating the Classical tradition while offering moments of lyrical reflection and dramatic intensity. Highlights include the noble lyricism of Bononcini’s Per la gloria d’adorarvi, the brilliance of Mozart’s Il mio tesoro from Don Giovanni and Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön, alongside Haydn’s radiant aria Mit Würd’ und Hoheit angetan from Die Schöpfung. The audience will also be treated to the timeless beauty of Caccini’s Amarilli, mia bella, the evocative romanticism of Berlioz’s Le Spectre de la rose, and the powerful operatic drama of Halévy’s Rachel, quand du Seigneur from La Juive.
This concert promises an enriching musical pause in the heart of Valletta—an opportunity to savour masterful music, exceptional artistry, and the unique atmosphere of one of Malta’s most treasured historic spaces.
