Barocco Foundation, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, presents a lunchtime concert on Tuesday 24 March at the historic Church of Our Lady of Victory. Soprano Marisa Galea joins forces with the versatile pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa for a refined programme of opera and song. Set within one of Valletta’s most treasured churches, this concert promises an elegant and uplifting musical interlude at the heart of the city.
The recital opens with Mozart’s exquisite “Deh vieni, non tardar” from Le Nozze di Figaro, followed by works by Mascagni, including the lyrical “Son pochi fiori” and “La tua stella”. Grieg’s haunting “Solvejgs lied” brings Nordic introspection, while Cilea’s Intermezzo from Adriana Lecouvreur and Cimarosa’s Sonata in G showcase the expressive and technical finesse of the piano.
The Italian bel canto tradition shines in Tosti’s “Tristezza”, Verdi’s sparkling “Sul fil d’un soffio etesio”, and Donizetti’s brilliant “O luce di quest’anima”. The programme concludes with Victor Herbert’s effervescent “Art Is Calling for Me”, a virtuosic and theatrical finale.
Arias in Bloom - will be held at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 24 March 2026 at 12:30pm. Entrance to the concert is at a suggested donation of €13.
