Join us on Tuesday 10th March at 12:30pm in the beautiful and historic setting of Our Lady of Victory Church which will resonate with some of the most beloved melodies from Broadway and the silver screen in a special lunchtime concert presented by the Barocco Foundation in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa.
The evocative programme brings together classic songs that have shaped generations of theatre and film audiences. Talented baritone Ken Scicluna joins forces with acclaimed pianist Mro. Abraham D’Amato to explore a rich gallery of musical portraits — from romance and longing to hope, drama and exuberant joy.
The programme features unforgettable music by some of the 20th century’s greatest composers. Audiences will be transported by the elegance and intrigue of “Charade” and the sultry charm of “Slow Hot Wind” by Henry Mancini. The grandeur of Broadway shines through in “Some Enchanted Evening” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, alongside the stirring “If Ever I Would Leave You” and “They Call the Wind Maria” by Frederick Loewe.
The dramatic intensity of “The Lost Chord” by Arthur Sullivan contrasts beautifully with the idealistic passion of “The Impossible Dream (I, Don Quixote)” by Mitch Leigh. Golden-age charm sparkles in “Singin’ in the Rain” by Nacio Herb Brown and the sophisticated lyricism of “So in Love” by Cole Porter. The beloved “If I Were a Rich Man” by Jerry Bock and the timeless favourites “Be My Love” and “I’ll Walk with God” by Nicholas Brodszky complete this richly varied musical journey.
